Funding for the translation and the publication abroad - DGLAB + Camões I.P. In 2020, exceptionally, the deadline is the 17th of August.

Carrying out the cooperation Protocol signed by the Camões, Institute for Cooperation and Language, I.P (Camões, IP) and the General Directorate for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB), which establishes the means by which both institutions will together work towards their shared purpose of promoting Portuguese literature abroad, as defined in the Resolution No. 70/2016, of the Ministers’ Council in the 22nd of November, both institutions have created a Fund to support the translation and the publication abroad. The regulation is available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Chinese.

The Funding aims to promote the translation and the publication abroad of works written in Portuguese by Portuguese authors or by authors from the African Portuguese-speaking countries (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe) and from East Timor.

Grants are given to the publishers - paying a part of the translation and/or the publication costs - and also directly to the translators.

The direct beneficiaries of this Funding are all the publishing houses who commit to publish and distribute, on an international level, works by the formerly mentioned eligible authors.

This Funding also establishes that the purchase of 50 copies can be expected for those works included in the list of Reference Books from Portuguese Literature defined by the 'Technical Committee'. This committee is formed by representatives from DGLAB, Camões I.P. , Portuguese Association of Writers and International Association of Lusitanists. These books will be distributed among Portuguese or foreign libraries, Portuguese Language Centres, Cultural Centres or Universities, with preference for those that have signed a Protocol of Co-operation with Camões I.P.

In 2020, exceptionally, the deadline is the 17th of August 2020
